Croscarmellose sodium is an internally cross-linked sodium carboxymethylcellulose for use as a superdisintegrant in pharmaceutical formulations.E468 is the E number of crosslinked sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, used in food as an emulsifier.
Partially soluble in water; in soluble in alcohol, in ether, and in other organic solvents.
(A) The substance to be examined absorbs the methylene blue and settles as a blue, fibrous mass.
(B) A reddish-violet colour develops at the interface.
(C) Sodium compound shall impart an intense Yellow colour to a non-luminous flame.
(A) Aerobic microbial count:Not more than 1000 cfu/g.
(B) Moulds & yeasts count : Not more than100 cfu/g.
(C) Escherichia coli : Should be absent.
